Design Elements of a Blog

A blog may be essentially an online journal displayed in reverse chronological order but it is also a website which requires the same attention to detail any other website requires. It also requires the same design elements as a regular website which does not also function as a blog. Bloggers have decisions to make regarding design elements of the blog such as colors and layout, fonts and the inclusion of advertisements. Although many blog software programs provide a variety of templates which make designing a blog rather simple, blogs can also be highly customized by bloggers who possess some programming skills. This article will discuss some of the basic design considerations bloggers encounter.

Colors and Layouts of a Blog

The colors and layout of a blog is one of the most obvious design considerations bloggers must consider when starting or re-designing their blog. Bloggers may use a solid color background, blocks of different colors in the background or pictures or textures in the background. These background elements can be any color imaginable. However, bloggers who are considering the colors to use in their blog should consider using colors which will be aesthetically appealing to most blog visitors. This is important because the use of garish colors which are harsh on the eye can result in diminished blog traffic.

The layout of the blog should also carefully be considered by the blogger. The blog should be arranged in a fashion which is appealing to blog visitors, suits the subject of the blog and is presented in a logical manner which is easy for visitors to follow. Again, this is important because failure to use a layout which meets these criteria may result in blog visitors choosing not to visit the blog anymore because the layout is confusing or unappealing.

Fonts Used in a Blog

Bloggers have a number of options available to them when selecting fonts to use in their blog. These options include the font chosen, the text size and the color of the text. Bloggers should consider choosing a font which works well with the overall design of the layout of the blog and suits the subject matter of the blog but also is a font which common. This is important because blog visitors may have trouble viewing the font if the blogger selects a unique font which is not common. The text size and colors of the text should also be carefully considered. These elements are primarily important for readability. Text size should be set so members of the target audience can easily read the text. For example a blogger with senior citizens as the target audience may opt to use a text size slightly larger than usual. The colors used for the text should also be selected to enhance readability. One way to do this is to select colors which are appealing to the eye but also contrast with the background color.

Inclusion of Advertisements in a Blog

Bloggers must also consider the inclusion of advertisements when they are designing their blogs. This includes determining whether or not to include blogs. Once this decision is made, bloggers who opt to include advertisements must carefully consider how and where they wish to display these advertisements. Advertisements can be displayed in various locations throughout the blog and can be designed to be discrete or obvious depending on the preferences of the blogger. Advertisements can also be a variety of sizes and shapes and are highly customizable in a number of different ways.

Setelah blog versiedan langsung loncat dapat PR3 dari juragan “ G “, kini giliran blog BO ini naik peringkat. Sama seperti blog Ve -  naik peringkatnya pun loncat dari awalnya PR2 setelah saya cek naik jadi PR4. – Semprul nya lagi beberapa tulisan di BO dapat jatah PR3, pada hal postinganya ngga perlu banggeutttt.

Gembira ? tidak juga, karena sekarang2 ini nadi ngeblog sudah lama berdetak lambat atau dengan kata sederhananya -  acara ngeblog telah kehilangan mood dan rasa. Justru yang tersisa dari kenaikan PR ini adalah kebingugan. Oke kalau kenaikan-nya cuman satu tangga dan blog di urus dan disiram dengan postingan, naik nya PR masih logis, nah ini blognya tidak di apa-apain ,, sumpeh bro ! boro2 posting lihat blog saja sudah rada mual apalagi di urus dan agresip ngentanyangan ngemis backlink.

Ya mungkin saja ini merupakan tebar pesona ala ci mister G kale, semacam politik bisnis, taktik bisnis atau apalah itu namanya agar ngeblog kembali bangkit dari mati surinya,, hehehe. Btw apa mungkin Page Rank bisa di politisasi ???

Adakah Featured Content yang Pas dan Ideal Untuk Blogspot

Ada yang nulis featured content ada yang bilang dengan istilah featured post dst. Namun istilah-istilah tersebut intinya tetaplah sama kata kang William Shakespeare “ apalah arti sebuah nama “. – dan saya tambahin apalah arti keduanya – featured content atau featured post, jika di gunakan di blogspot.

Sampai saat ini saya googling,  belum menemukan script yang pas atau ideal. Pas dan ideal dalam artian tidak di perbaharui secara manual tetapi terupdate secara otomatis seperti blog kampung sebelah.

Walaupun menemukan dua free template blogspot plus featured content terupdate otomatis, yang menurut saya sangat inspiratif dengan menggunakan bantuan script recenpost-thumb, tapi belum memuaskan dan belum cukup untuk di katakan sempurna. karena selain masih kurang efektif,  terlalu banyak script recentpost-thumb yang di gunakannya tentu berakibat pada loding page. 

Before You Register a Domain Name for Your New Online Business

I studied so many books about Internet marketing over the last couple of years that I decided to start a new web site, and share my knowladge and experience with other fellow Internet marketers.

Since I read lots of information about search engine optimization (SEO), I intended to optimize all of my web pages for search engines from the beginning on, expecting Google to be my number one source of traffic in the near future.

I did an extensive keyword research using WordTraker, made a blueprint for my product and article pages, and the time has come to choose a great domain name for my new project.

I went to GoDaddy, the famous domain name registar, tried this and that, and finally came up with a beautiful domain name related to Internet marketing - netmarketingstrategies.com

You probably know that Internet marketing is a very competitive niche, so I was glad that this domain name was still available. I registered it immediately.

My site was up and running in 48 hours. Now I needed some fresh web content, and to get indexed by major search engines as soon as possible.

So, I spent a week or two writing search engine optimized content for my new online business.

I usually don't submit my new web sites to search engines for indexing. I prefer when my sites are found on other web sites and get spidered automatically.

One of the easiest ways to have a link to a web site from other sites is by writing and distributing high quality articles. So, I wrote an article about two-tier affiliate programs and submited it to major article directories.

Within a couple of days I searched for my article title in Google and noticed that it did great. Publishers liked my article and they were publishing it on their web sites and newsletters.

I expected my home page to get indexed very fast.

Time went.

Each week I searched Google to see if my site has already got indexed. It didn't.

I decided to see if my domain has been spidered by other major search engines. Yes, both Yahoo and MSN got it. So, what went wrong? Why Google won't index my home page?

Here's what I think went wrong: my further investigation showed that the domain name had already been used by another webmaster and had been expired half a year ago when I registered it. It seems that the previous domain name owner was using unfair search engine optimization strategies and his web site was banned by Google.

I sent a request to Google explaining the situation and asking to lift the ban from my web site. I am not sure if they will listen and help me.

I am ready to register a new domain name in a few weeks time if I still cannot get my site indexed by Google.

So, don't make the same mistake I did... If you intend to optimize your new web site in order to receive traffic from Google and other search engines, make sure to check out if a domain name you've selected for your online business is not banned by Google before registering it.
